List of Bye-laws
Uniform
1. Throughout the Society's existence the Captain's Uniform has been a scarlet coat, with green velvet collar,   
    and  gilt buttons bearing the Society's crest.

Course
2. The Rules of Golf as they may from time to time be approved by the R&A Rules Limited shall, so far as applicable, be the Rules of the Society, except where otherwise specially provided for in these Bye-Laws.
3. The Handicaps of Members shall be in accordance with the Council of National Golf Unions Standard Scratch Score and Handicapping Scheme and shall be fixed by the Directors, whose decision shall be final.
4. Places in the starting sheet shall be booked only by a Member of each match in person who shall book one time only for each round. No Member may book for a time for a second round until his first matcdh has been completed.
5. Players on the 1st tee have priority over those putting or playing to the 18th green. On competition days no one may commence a round at any hole except with the permission of the Authorised Starter.
6. A ball played over any boundary fence, or into a plantation, or into grounds surrounding the Clubhouse as demarcated on the ground, is out of bounds.
7. On competition days, players in all private matches must give way to Members playing in the competition.
8. In the event of any Visiting Party/Club being granted permission to hold a competition over the Course; Members waiting to play shall have the right to claim priority in starting over the competitors therein subject to the guidance of the Authorised Starter.
9. Any match which is delaying the match behind, the hole in front being clear, must stand aside and request the match behind to play through.
10. Practice is only allowed on those parts of the Course set aside for that purpose.
11. Dogs shall not on any account be allowed on the Course or in the Clubhouse.

Clubhouse
12. No Member shall take or permit to be taken from the Clubhouse any article belonging to the Society without the authority of the Directors or the Secretary.
13. The Society shall not be responsible for articles of any kind whatever belonging to Members, Visitors or Guests even when left in the charge of the Staff. In the interests of tidiness and cleanliness articles of clothing or equipment left un-named and apparently ownerless in the changing or locker rooms will be collected, and if not claimed within 40 days be gifted to a charity nominated by the Directors, and Members will have no claim upon the Society or any member of the staff in connection with such articles so gifted.
14. No notice or documents shall be placed on the Clubhouse notice boards or otherwise publicly displayed therein, except by the authority of the Directors or the Secretary or one of the Committees and no authorised notice shall be altered or defaced by any Member.
15. Members shall, before leaving the Clubhouse, defray whatever expenses they may have incurred therein to the Society.
16. No Member shall offer a gratuity to any member of staff.
17. No Director or person employed in the premises of the Society shall have any personal interest in the sale of excisable liquors therein or on the profits arising from such sale. No excisable liquors shall be sold or supplied for consumption outside the premises of the Society. No excisable liquor will be sold to a Junior Member or person under the age of 18.

Visiting Clubs
18. The Directors have the power to admit to the privileges of the Clubhouse and Course Members of other recognised Golf Clubs for the purpose of holding competitions, and these shall be considered Members for the day only. Each Member of such Clubs who is not also a member of the Society shall pay such subscription for the day as may be imposed from time to time by the Directors. There shall be posted on the notice board a list showing the names of all such Clubs or Associations to whom such privileges have been granted, and the dates on which they have been given permission to play.

Guests
19. Each Town, Country and 18/23 Member of the Society shall be entitled to introduce not more than three guests to play on the Course on any one day except as authorised by the Directors. Each Five-Day Member shall be entitled to introduce the same number of guests to play on the Course on any day at any time when Five-Day Members are entitled to play except as authorised by the Directors.
In respect of each guest so introduced (other than the wife of a Member in respect of whom no charge shall be payable) the Member shall pay such charges as may from time to time be fixed by the Directors.
20. A Temporary Member shall be entitled to introduce not more than four guests in any four weeks and not more than three guests on any one day.
21. A Member introducing a playing guest or guests shall enter the name and address of each Guest in the book kept by the Authorised Starter for the purpose, and sign each entry.
23. No guest shall commence a round during such times set apart for the competitions of the Society.
24. Guests shall not be supplied with excisable liquors in the Club premises unless by invitation and in the company of a Member, and the Member shall upon the admission of such guests to the Club premises, enter his own name and the name and address of any such Guest in the book kept in the Clubhouse for the purpose, and which entry shall show the date of each visit. Whether or not a Guest's name has already been entered in the book kept by the Starter it shall also be entered in the book kept in the Clubhouse. No excisable liquors shall be sold or supplied to any person under eighteen years of age.
25. Visitors and those playing by introduction must procure the necessary ticket before starting to play. The ticket must be produced on request to any official of the Society.

Junior Members 
26. Junior Members may only commence play with the permission of the Authorised Starter or Secretary.
Times of commencing play for Junior members shall be as follows:
(i)  On any competition day at the end of the competition unless authorised to participate in the competition.
(ii)  From Monday until Friday any time before 4.30pm or after 6.30pm unless accompanied by a Member.
(iii) On Saturdays and Sundays if accompanied by a Member between 9.45am and 12 noon or, if unaccompanied,    
       after 2.00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
During the months of November to March inclusive Junior Members shall be entitled to commence play between 10.30am and 11.30am or after 1.30pm.
Junior Members may introduce one guest to play on the Course at any time when Junior Members are entitled to play on payment of the charge normally payable by a member for a guest.
No guest whether introduced by the same or another Junior Member shall be allowed to playon the Course more than on two days in any period of four weeks.
Junior Members and their guest shall have the use of the TV and mixed lounges, locker room and, providing they are accompanied by an adult relative, the Dining Room. All other rooms shall be barred to them except as sanctioned by the Directors. They shall not be served excisable liquors. Juniors do not have to wear a jacket and tie in the TV room.
Junior Members shall have unrestricted use of the practice grounds.

Ladies
27. The provision of these Bye-Laws as far as apllicable to Guests shall apply to Ladies subject as follows:
On weekdays ladies shall not commence a round between the hours of 4.00pm and 6.30pm.
On Saturdays Ladies shall not be permitted to commence a round before 3.30pm and then only provided the course is clear.
There is no limit on the number of times a Member may introduce his wife as a guest to play with him at times when Ladies may play.
Ladies shall have the use of the Dining Room, TV and Mixed Lounges but shall not be allowed to use any of the other public rooms on the ground floor except as sanctioned by the Directors.
Ladies shall only be allowed to use the practice grounds if accompanied by a Member, or on special permission given by the Secretary.

Family Tickets
28. Any Member of the Society may purchase tickets for the use of his family or for a friend accompanying a Member of his family, under the following conditions:
(a) These tickets are only valid for Ladies and Youths under 18 years of age for weekday only play commencing before 4.00pm and may be used on any day except Saturdays and Sundays and any other day fixed by the Directors. They may also be used for play at any time at which Ladies may play on the Course in terms of Bye-Law No27 so long as the player eligible to play under this ticket is accompanied by the Member.
(b) Members of the Society, Visitors and Guests have precedence over holders of these tickets.
(c) Parties making use of these tickets shall, subject to Bye-Laws Nos. 24 and 26, be entitled to the privileges of the Clubhouse.

Caddies
29. Under no pretext are Caddies permitted to enter the Clubhouse or loiter near the entrance thereto.

Dress
30. Unless and then only to the extent relaxed or varied by the Directors from time to time:
(a) Members must adhere to the Society's accepted dress code of a jacket, collar and tie in the entrance hall, Members' Lounge and Dining Room at all times and in the Mixed Lounge before 3.30pm.
(b) Members may use the TV Lounge at all times and the Mixed Lounge after 3.30pm without wearing a jacket, collar and tie provided they are smartly dressed  (eg. no golf shoes, trainers, waterproofs or caps and shirts must be tucked in at the waistband).
31. The wearing of tailored shorts when worn with long socks is permitted in the car park, on the Course and in the Clubhouse other than in areas where a jacket, collar and tie are required.

Clubhouse Card
32. Town, Town Reduced, Five-Day and Special Five-Day Members are issued with a swipe card ("Clubhouse Card") which may be used for purchases at the bar and in the Dining Room.
(a) Each year the Directors will fix the amount of the annual card contribution ("Charge Card") which will be due and payable by each such Member along with his subscription and, on payment being made, the Member's Clubhouse Card will be credited accordingly. Members may top up the credit on their Clubhouse Cards in the bar or Dining Room by cash, cheque or debit (but not credit) card with a minimum payment of £20 (or such greater sum as the Directors may fix from time to time).
On request Honorary, Country, 18/23, Junior, Non Playing and Temporary Members shall be provided with a Clubhouse Card on the same basis as a Town Member save there shall be no annual Card Charge.
(b) Unused Card Charge payments at the end of December will be forfeited to the Society, but top up payments will be carried forward to the following year.
(c) There will be dual pricing in the bar and Dining Room. Payments made using the Clubhouse Card will be 10% less than payments made by cash or cheque.
(d) A Member who loses his Clubhouse Card will be charged such sum as the Directors fix from time to time for a replacement. 

Complaints
33. Complaints as regards service, or against any member of Staff, must not be made direct to any member of Staff but must be made in writing to the Secretary or Honorary Secretary in order that they may be submitted to the Directors.
34. The penalty for breaking any of these Bye-Laws of the Society shall be fixed by the Directors, whose decision shall be final.
